Anyone can now fabricate a video of a person saying words they never said. Seal Media answers a different question from “is this real?” — it answers “who stands behind this?” A verified artist, studio or creator seals their work with us. Anyone can then check any copy of it, free, forever, without an account.
How a viewer checks a video
Paste the link
Paste the full address of the video. Seal tells you whether the artist has declared that exact address as a place they publish, and shows the title and the sealing date.
Upload the file
If you have the file, Seal reads it in your browser and tells you whether it matches the sealed work, whether it is a faithful excerpt, or which passages were altered — and whether the image, the sound, or both were changed. If the file is byte-for-byte the one that was sealed, Seal says so.

Watching on a TV or someone else’s screen? Point your phone at it. Seal finds the screen by itself and tells you which work it is and who published it.
Nothing is uploaded. The calculation happens in your browser. We never receive your video, and we keep no record of who checked what.
Live broadcasts
A live broadcast has no fingerprint yet — the work does not exist until it is finished. So a verified broadcaster displays a code that changes every minute, or carries it inaudibly in the sound. Point your phone at the speaker and Seal reads it for you. An impostor broadcasting at the same moment cannot produce that code, and a recording replayed later carries an expired one — which Seal reports as expired, not as invalid. That difference is what unmasks a recording presented as live.
Not just anyone can seal
Add this as normal body text. It is the part that makes the rest worth anything.
Before an artist or a company can seal a single work, two separate things are checked.
Who you are. An identity document plus a liveness check for an individual. For a company: the legal register, the identity of a representative, and control of its published phone number and domain.
That you control the channel. This is the part most services skip. An identity document proves you are a real person — it does not prove you run the YouTube channel you claim. So Seal gives you a code, you place it where only the channel’s owner can write, and Seal reads it back. A channel proven by one account cannot be claimed by another.
And the rule that follows: a place you have not proven is refused. You can still seal your work — but Seal will never state a place of publication that nobody has checked.
A date you do not have to take our word for
Every day, Seal computes a single fingerprint covering all the works sealed that day and registers it in the Bitcoin blockchain through OpenTimestamps. Each work gets its own path to that fingerprint.
The consequence: “this work was sealed before that date” can be verified by anyone, with public tools, without trusting Seal — and would remain verifiable even if Seal disappeared.
Be precise about what that means, and keep this sentence: it proves who sealed first. It does not prove who created first.
The badge that denounces itself
A verified artist can display a Seal Media badge next to their work. The badge is not an image sitting on a page: it is served by Seal every time it is displayed, and Seal checks where it is being displayed from. On a place the artist has not declared, the badge turns red and says so in the visitor’s own language. Someone who copies the badge onto a fake page copies their own accuser.
We read your work. We never change it.
This section is for artists and for mastering engineers. Use it as written.
Sealing does not modify your file. Not by one byte. The fingerprint is computed by READING the work, never by writing into it — so the file you publish is exactly the file that came out of your mastering session: same bytes, same checksum, same everything.
That matters, because the usual way to mark a work is a watermark, and a watermark adds a signal into the sound or the image. Seal adds nothing.

So an artist can seal thirty years of catalogue without re-touching a single file. No remastering, no re-delivery to platforms, no risk to a mix.
One honest exception, and say it plainly. For LIVE broadcasts only, a broadcaster may choose to carry the verification code inaudibly in the sound. That is optional, the level is adjustable, the visible code remains available on its own, and none of it ends up in the recorded file the artist publishes afterwards.

Seal informs, it does not remove anything. It has no power over any platform.
A work that was not sealed is not protected. Sealing happens before publication.
